Dear Artist,

The Center for Emerging Artists, created in 2000, was developed   in response to a state and national trend aimed at discovering and fostering the artistic talents of individuals with disabilities. The Center is supported by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the families of the Arc, and through the efforts and contributions of the public.

The Center is looking for people who would like to share their specialized talents with our group of unique individuals. Introductions to new components of art making is important in expanding their understanding of art.

We invite you to submit a proposal that contains a description of a project you would like to undertake while at the Center. You will need to include an estimated time line as well as a material list. The duration of each workshop will be flexible according to project. Keep in mind we require a minimum of 2 hours a day. Morning art sessions run from 9:30-12:00, and afternoon sessions 1:00-3:00. Each project proposed should not extend past two months.

Please note that we are required to do a Criminal Offender Record Information report (CORI) on all accepted applicants.

Please download the application form. Email application form, resume, and proposal to aruiter@theemarc.org or mail to The Arc of East Middlesex, Center for Emerging Artists, c/o Amy Ruiter, 20 Gould Street, Reading, MA. 01867.

Regards,

Amy Ruiter
