EMARC selling blue awareness bracelets
The Arc of East Middlesex (EMARC) is selling blue awareness wrist bands promoting a new message: The Arcs across the state are all about Realizing potential and Achieving goals. Please note that awareness wrist bands are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 20 Gould Street, Reading, for $2.
“The Arcs help children and adults with intellectual disabilities to live, work and play in our communities. We assist them in realizing their potential and achieving their goal of full participation,” said Jo Ann Simons, Executive Director of The Arc of East Middlesex.
The silicone wrist bands, sold for $2 each, promote that positive message.
The Arcs are known for their family driven governance and advocacy services. Over the past few years, the 22 Arcs across the state have been meeting to discuss how to raise awareness of the Arc brand and how to work cooperatively for the common good of each of their organizations and the individuals and families they support. As part of this process, EMARC’s Board of Directors voted to enable them to do business as The Arc of East Middlesex rather than the East Middlesex Association for Retarded Citizens. In recent years, other Arcs have also made the switch to put The Arc first in their name.
The Arc in Massachusetts represents an arc of inclusion where people of all ability levels are part of the Commonwealth. The Arc of East Middlesex is working toward this goal in Everett, Lynn, Lynnfield, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield and surrounding communities.
